South Croydon Carpet Cleaners – UK Service Terms and Conditions

Carpet cleaning technician preparing equipment for a service appointmentThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which South Croydon Carpet Cleaners provides carpet cleaning and related upholstery cleaning services to residential and commercial customers in the United Kingdom. By making a booking, confirming an appointment, or allowing work to begin, you agree to be bound by these terms. Please read them carefully before placing an order. These terms are intended to be fair, clear, and consistent with UK consumer law, while also protecting both the customer and the service provider.

In these Terms and Conditions, references to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean South Croydon Carpet Cleaners, and references to “you” or “the customer” mean the person booking or receiving the service. Our services may include carpet cleaning, stain treatment, stain removal attempts, deodorising, and similar cleaning tasks agreed in advance. Any service not expressly included in the booking confirmation is outside the agreed scope unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Close-up of carpet cleaning tools and solution used in a UK serviceThese terms apply to all standard carpet cleaning services, including domestic and commercial work, unless a separate written agreement says otherwise. We may update these terms from time to time, and the version in force at the time your booking is accepted will usually apply to that order. If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

1. Booking Process

All bookings for South Croydon Carpet Cleaners are subject to availability and acceptance by us. A booking request does not guarantee an appointment until we have confirmed the date, time, and service details. We may accept bookings in person, by telephone, email, or through other booking channels we make available. You are responsible for checking that the details you provide are accurate and complete.

When you place a booking, you must provide the information reasonably needed to assess the job, including the type of flooring or fabric, approximate room sizes, any known stains or damage, access restrictions, parking limitations, and any relevant health or safety concerns. If the information supplied is incomplete or inaccurate, we may adjust the price, the expected duration, or the service approach. In some cases, we may decide that the service cannot safely or effectively be carried out.

Professional cleaning process on a carpeted floor indoorsBefore work begins, we may carry out an inspection of the relevant area. This inspection is used to confirm the condition of the surfaces, identify obvious risks, and check whether the requested cleaning method is suitable. You agree to allow reasonable access for this inspection and for the performance of the service. If we believe that further preparation is required, we may ask you to move furniture, remove delicate items, or take other reasonable steps before cleaning can start.

2. Pricing and Payments

Prices for carpet cleaners in South Croydon may be provided as fixed quotes, estimated prices, or rate-based charges, depending on the nature of the work. Unless stated otherwise, all prices are shown in pounds sterling and may be subject to VAT where applicable. Any estimate is based on the information you provide and on a reasonable assessment of the likely work involved. If the actual job differs from the description given at booking, the final price may be adjusted accordingly.

Payment is due in accordance with the method and timing agreed at booking. We may require a deposit, full advance payment, or payment immediately after the service has been completed. Where payment is made after completion, you must settle the invoice without unreasonable delay. We accept payment only by the methods that we specify from time to time. If your payment is declined, reversed, or delayed, we may suspend future work until the account is settled.

Unless we have agreed a written credit arrangement, all invoices are payable in full on presentation. If payment is late, we reserve the right to charge interest and reasonable recovery costs in accordance with applicable UK law. Any discount, promotional price, or special offer is valid only for the period and conditions stated at the time of booking and may be withdrawn if the qualifying criteria are not met.

3. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Access

You may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving us reasonable notice. If you cancel with sufficient notice, we may offer a rearranged date without charge, subject to availability. If you cancel at short notice, fail to provide access, or are not ready for us to begin work at the agreed time, we may charge a cancellation fee to cover lost time, travel, and administrative costs. The amount charged will depend on the circumstances and on any non-recoverable costs already incurred.

We may cancel or reschedule a booking if there are operational reasons, adverse weather, staff illness, safety concerns, or circumstances outside our reasonable control. If we need to cancel, we will take reasonable steps to offer an alternative appointment. We will not be liable for indirect loss caused by a cancellation or rescheduling, provided we act reasonably and use appropriate care in managing the appointment.

For the service to proceed smoothly, you must ensure that we have safe and reasonable access to the property and to the areas to be cleaned. If access is restricted, if parking or entry arrangements have not been made, or if the property is not in a suitable condition for work to begin, we may be unable to complete the service and may charge a call-out or wasted attendance fee. You are also responsible for securing valuables, fragile objects, and items that could be damaged if moved or exposed to moisture.

4. Service Standards and Customer Responsibilities

We will perform our services with reasonable care and skill, using methods that are generally appropriate for the relevant material and level of soiling. However, not all carpets, rugs, or fabrics respond in the same way to cleaning. Differences in age, wear, previous treatment, fibre type, and pre-existing damage can affect the results. While we aim to achieve a high standard of cleaning, we cannot guarantee the removal of every stain, odour, or mark.

You agree to disclose any known issues that may affect the work, including colour loss, shrinkage risk, moth damage, backing weakness, previous water damage, or the use of unsuitable cleaning products. Failure to provide this information may affect the result and may limit our responsibility. If you ask us to clean an item that is already fragile, heavily worn, or structurally compromised, you do so at your own risk, subject to your statutory rights.

Where necessary, you should remove small items, ornaments, cables, toys, and similar obstructions before we arrive. We may move light furniture where it is reasonable to do so, but we are not obliged to move heavy, fixed, or unsafe items. If furniture must remain in place, areas underneath or behind it may not be fully cleaned. We may also decline to move items that could cause damage or injury.

5. Liability and Limitations

Cleaner reviewing service conditions before beginning workWe will not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited. Subject to those rights, our liability for loss or damage arising from the service will be limited to the amount paid, or payable, for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

We are not responsible for pre-existing defects, normal wear and tear, hidden faults, or damage caused by items being old, poorly maintained, or unsuitable for wet cleaning. This includes shrinkage, colour migration, texture change, seam lifting, dye bleed, or backing separation where these outcomes are associated with the item’s condition or construction. We also cannot accept liability for damage caused by inaccurate information supplied by the customer or by failure to follow reasonable instructions.

We do not accept responsibility for indirect or consequential losses, such as loss of profit, loss of business, loss of use, inconvenience, or alternative accommodation costs, except where such exclusion is not permitted by law. Any claim relating to the service should be reported to us as soon as reasonably possible and before the cleaned area is altered, reused, or exposed to further treatment, so that we can inspect the issue and assess it fairly.

6. Waste Regulations and Disposal

As part of our carpet cleaners service, we may remove limited waste generated during cleaning, such as disposable cloths, empty solution containers, or light debris that results directly from the work. All waste handling will be carried out in accordance with applicable UK waste regulations and environmental requirements. We will not remove hazardous materials, clinical waste, asbestos, chemical residues, or any prohibited substance unless specifically agreed and lawfully permitted.

You remain responsible for ensuring that any item presented for cleaning is safe and lawful to handle. If we discover contamination, infestation, mould, biological waste, excessive pet waste, or other hazardous conditions, we may suspend the work and request further instructions. Additional charges may apply if specialist cleaning, disposal, or protective measures are required. We may refuse service where doing so is necessary for health, safety, or compliance reasons.

Where waste needs to be taken away as part of an agreed service, we will do so in a manner consistent with our operational procedures and applicable legal duties. We may separate and dispose of waste in appropriate approved facilities. You must not ask us to dispose of items unlawfully or to transport waste that we are not licensed or equipped to handle. Any request for unusual disposal must be agreed in advance and may incur extra cost.

7. Complaints, Remedies, and Inspection

If you are dissatisfied with any part of the service, you should notify us within a reasonable time after completion. This allows us to inspect the work and decide whether any remedial action is appropriate. In many cases, we may offer a re-clean or other reasonable corrective step where the issue is capable of being addressed. A complaint does not automatically entitle you to a refund, particularly where the service has been delivered as agreed and the result is affected by the condition of the item.

Any remedy will depend on the facts, including the pre-clean condition, the suitability of the material, the information provided, and the practical outcome that could reasonably be expected. Where a fault is confirmed and we are responsible, we may repair, re-perform, reduce the price, or refund part of the payment, as appropriate under UK consumer law. If an item is removed, used, or altered after cleaning, it may become impossible to assess the original issue fairly.

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights if the service is not carried out with reasonable care and skill, or if it is otherwise not in conformity with the contract. These terms are intended to complement, and not replace, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other applicable legislation. If there is any conflict between these terms and mandatory legal rights, the law will prevail.

8. Governing Law and General Provisions

Finished carpet cleaning setup with equipment and protective suppliesThese Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in another part of the UK. If you are contracting as a consumer, you may also be entitled to use alternative dispute resolution methods where appropriate.

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain fully effective. Any failure by us to enforce a right or remedy on one occasion does not mean we waive that right or remedy in future. These terms form the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the service, unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

By booking with South Croydon Carpet Cleaners, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. We recommend that you keep a copy for your records. If you have any questions about the booking process, payment terms, cancellation rules, liability position, or waste handling requirements, they should be clarified before the service date so that both parties have a clear understanding of the arrangement.
